Also known as Sarah. She was the red-headed, fragrant girl who sat with her two best friends on their mother’s porch in the small southern town of Edirne, Colorado. Echoe Matthews, a young red-haired girl with a red-headed hair, was her favorite little girl. Growing up, they were best friends and spent much of their free time together, especially whenever there was a chance for a fun outdoor activity like fishing or hiking.
Echoe Matthews was seven years of age when her parents decided that it would be a good idea to send her to school. She enrolled at the local elementary school, but she continued to hang out with her friends from seven to thirteen years old. And when she got to thirteen years old, her parents divorced. Shortly after, Sarah and her best friend decided they wanted to stay friends. They went on their first ever date, which was a success. And after that, they became inseparable.
Ever since then, Sarah and Echoe have been best friends. Their parents are close in age and they never imagined they would become so close in such a strange manner. However, when they announced that they were going on a “date evening”, their parents were both shocked and delighted. Echoe and Sarah cooked a delicious meal of their favorite foods for the couple.
As the girls walked through the garden, one day they came across a stuffed monkey on a fence post. It took them a while to reach the stump and pull it down. As they saw the monkey’s funny face, they laughed at each other. It was the very image of what they had in their minds as children; cartoons, fairies, princesses, all things they loved. It was the kind of thing they always talked about.
That’s how it happened. A few years later, on a bright spring day, they were sitting in the backyard, eating lunch when suddenly the phone rang. Echoe and Sarah heard the familiar sound of the phone bell. It was their mother. They looked at each other and noticed a tear in their eyes.
Their mother, bless her heart gave them each a small envelope. The envelope contained a letter that began like any other letter, beginning with a capital “A”. It said, “Dear Sarah ,…we believe you two might be best friends.” On the inside of the letter was also written, “To Our Little Girl: Our daughter has become our friend, and we would like to inform her that we love her very much, and will always support her interests and opinions, and her dreams, whatever they are. Thank you in advance for your kindness, and prayers, in raising our daughter.”
