Home Owner Insurance Coverage: Do You Agree That Our Insurance Commissionaire Steve Poizner Deserves a Big Hand?
Question by Ustun Inan Insurance: Do you agree that our Insurance commissionaire Steve Poizner deserves a big hand?
For quickly getting involved in handling the Lake Tahoe fires, with a meaningful and effective action plan. First he wants to oversee the claims procedures so they will be handled quickly and fairely. Second he wants to protect everyone against scrupulous building contructors. This is very important because also protects “Licensed and Insured Builders”so they will not have to compete against contractors who does not pay expenses related to licensing and insurance. If these people wants to work, they should apply for jobs through legitimate builders.
If the home owner is not happy with the work,he should have a recourse to ask the builder to correct the problem.
Also very important, to have homeowners to look at their insurance coverage to make sure they have adequate amount and type of coverage. “Fire” insurance only covers up the policy limits and for perils listed in policy, while “Homeowners” has more extensive coverage, many times with “Replacement cost” feature.

Did he say “I’m from the government and I’m here to help you” ?
Wow what would the insurance companies do if they didn’t have the insurance commissioner interpreting their own policies and adjusting their own claims? (that’s sarcasm in case you were ..never mind)
Anytime the insurance commissioners get involved with anything, the policies get tightened, the premiums go up and the insurers start leaving. I’m a believer that insurance commissioners should be seen and not heard. Good luck.

Yes, he does. He’s doing a better job than my ex-boss (who I won’t name …) who “comforted” the state’s residents suffering hurricane losses by saying his Virginia vacation home had been damaged, too. THAT went over well, LOL!
