As far as the billing/insurance funny stuff going on, you are right sir! Insurance contracts, negotiations and billing practices lead to a decrease in market competitiveness, which leads to less incentive for a better product and value. Insurance companies and inefficient billing systems/practices lead to a hefty overhead which we all pay for. It was good to hear your thoughts!
Nice rant. I am a Pharm.D. student (Doctor of Pharmacy), and I appreciate all of what you said. You covered several issues that would surely irritate most patients. I just have a few things to add. With high blood pressure, it may be hard to find a good cold medicine because all decongestants raise your blood pressure, so you can’t take them. As far as the allergy meds go, Zyrtec and Claritin are comparable to Allegra, and there is a 50+ dollar difference between them.
